  • Truckin' test data show no other pickup can deliver the unique Ford F-150 mix of responsive acceleration, towing and hauling capabilities, and fuel economy.

DEARBORN, Mich., April 9, 2012 –Ford knows that full-size truck buyers like to personalize their pickups and so do the experts at Truckin' magazine. But it takes more than style to win with consumers. After testing four half-ton pickups in a well-rounded set of challenges, the Ford F-150 FX2 SuperCrew is now the Truckin' half-ton Truck of the Year.

Ford stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam with the EcoBoost F-150 FX2,”said Truckin' Feature Editor Maxwell Matthewson. They gave the consumer everything they wanted in one package: impeccable styling, remarkable performance, and gas mileage that doesn' t punch you in the gut at the fuel pump.

Ford is giving buyers more options to personalize the truck.

The new FX Appearance Package is available on both FX2 and FX4 trucks and delivers a unique look with stealthy, flat-black accents. The look is set off with black fender and tailgate badges that feature red lettering, which is carried into the interior with a red-stitched steering wheel.

The FX' s interior also features black leather seating surfaces with red perforations and red piping. Unique interior touches include black-painted dash accents, brushed-metal surfaces, and satin shifter knob, door handles and air conditioning vent bezels. The package is available with all seven FX exterior colors.

Also new for 2012, the FX Luxury Package now offers cooled front seats, which combine with the previously available heated seats.

New 20-inch six-spoke wheels with flat-black paint are just one of the specialized styling cues on the exterior. A unique body-side decal is matte black with color read-through for a distinctive appearance. A chrome exhaust tip, black-finished grille, and blacked-out headlamps and taillamps round out the exterior upgrades.

The new FX package delivers a distinctive style that truck buyers are looking for without compromising on any of the F-150' s rugged qualities,” said Raj Sarkar, F-150 Marketing manager. Earning this recognition from such a discerning group of personalization and performance experts as Truckin' is gratifying.”

With a twin-turbocharged direct-injection gasoline EcoBoost V6 engine making 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, the Ford F-150 delivers power and performance comparable to competitive, naturally aspirated V8 engines, while delivering significantly improved fuel economy, up to 20 percent better.

The 2012 Ford F-150 FX2 with EcoBoost offers 22 mpg on the highway (4x2) mileage that' s superior to competitors' full-size V6 and V8 conventional gasoline trucks and beats even midsize pickups with V6 engines.

The half-ton shootout appears in the April 2012 issue of Truckin' magazine, on newsstands now. The test compares the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab LTZ, Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab 4x4 and Nissan Titan 4x4 Pro-4X pickups to the winning Ford F-150. F-150 delivers class-leading towing capability of 11,300 pounds and hauling capacity of 3,030 pounds a combination no other competitor can match.

With Its Unbeatable Combination of Top Fuel Efficiency and

Capability, Ford F-150 Is Motor Trend's 2012 Truck of the Year

Dec-12-2011 12:45 PM ET

DEARBORN - The 2012 Ford F-150, which established a new standard for full-size pickups with best-in-class fuel

efficiency and capability, today was named Motor Trend's 2012 Truck of the Year®.

The 2012 F-150 is a no-compromise solution that can be tailored to fit virtually every customer's needs, and the

Motor Trend Truck of the Year award further reinforces that this is truly the best choice for America's truck

owners, said Mark Fields, Ford president of The Americas. We are proud to receive this award and even more

pleased that our F-150 customers have additional validation of their top choice.

This is the fourth time the F-150 has won the award the most awards for any truck since Motor Trend began

presenting its Truck of the Year award in 1989. The Ford pickup received the magazine's prestigious award for

previous groundbreaking new models in 1997, 2004 and 2009.

Motor Trend editors applauded F-150 because, they said, F-150s are built to work and felt better the more they

were challenged. Ford offers an enormous variety of configurations and designs, making the truck tailorable to

just about any need. It's the combination of advancement in design, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety,

value, and the performance of intended function that has earned the Ford F-150 the title of Motor Trend's 2012

Truck of the Year.

With more than a half-million sales through November and a lead of almost 150,000 sales versus the nearest

competitor, the Ford F-Series is on track this year to extend its streak of truck leadership to 35 straight years.

Helping spark the F-150's continued success is the powerful and fuel-efficient 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine, which

now accounts for more than 40 percent of F-150 retail sales and is on pace to exceed 100,000 sales in less than a

year on the market.

More capability, more technology

The 2012 F-150 offers customers plenty of technologies that boost capability, performance, driving enjoyment and

fuel efficiency. One such technology is the class-exclusive electric power-assisted steering (EPAS). The system has

been carefully tuned with sophisticated speed mapping to deliver accurate responses at high speed while

remaining light and manageable in parking maneuvers. Ford is the first manufacturer to widely offer EPAS on fullsize

pickup trucks. EPAS contributes about a 4 percent fuel-economy benefit compared with conventional hydraulic systems.

A 4.2-inch LCD message center that features information related to fuel economy, towing performance and offroading,

SYNC® AppLink™ and SiriusXM Travel Link also are among the customer conveniences available.

New features for 2012 include:

•36-gallon fuel tank on 4x4 F-150 EcoBoost-equipped units providing best-in-class 756 miles of driving range

•Two-speed automatic 4x4 system on Lariat, King Ranch, Harley-Davidson and Platinum models for improved all weather traction

•Hill Start Assist, which helps keep the truck from rolling backward at a stop, making it easier to pull away when on a slope or hill, especially when towing

•Best-in-class payload capability of 3,120 pounds

Fuel-efficient and powerful offerings

All of the changes for the 2012 model year complement a powertrain lineup that debuted in 2011. The powertrain

lineup delivers a mix of best-in-class fuel economy, horsepower, torque and capability. Ford is also the first and

only manufacturer to equip its entire full-size pickup truck lineup with a fuel-saving six-speed automatic

transmission as standard. Engine highlights include:
